John Corcoran President
John Corcoran is an attorney with the firm of Omni Law Group, LLP and a public affairs consultant. He has also served as a communications advisor, speechwriter, and press aide for a President, Governor, and numerous political candidates.
As a public affairs consultant, John provides public affairs, government relations and communications advice to a variety of clients, from statewide public policy organizations and elected officials to local governments and political candidates. He is currently working on the Marin Clean Energy project, a proposal by the County of Marin and all eleven Marin cities and towns to create a renewable power authority.
During the Clinton Administration, John served as a Writer in the Office of Presidential Letters and Messages at the White House. In the Office of Presidential Letters and Messages, he wrote Proclamations, Presidential correspondence, and other written communications.
After the Clinton White House, he served as a Speechwriter for California Governor Gray Davis in Sacramento. Over the course of three years, he wrote or contributed to three State of the State addresses, Congressional testimony, bill signings, and remarks before the California Legislature. During this time, he was instrumental in the development of the Flex Your Power energy conservation program. He also provided communications and strategic advice during the 2002 California Gubernatorial campaign and the 2003 California Recall election.
He later served as Senior Advisor for Communications to the Chair of the California Board of Equalization, the nation’s only elected tax body. During that time, he generated press coverage in local, California, and national publications, including Fox News Channel, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
John received his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he was a member of the USF Law Review and competed in honors moot court. During law school, he served as a law clerk at the San Francisco City Attorney’s office and in the Marin County District Attorney’s office. He is a member of the State Bar of California.
A graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, he participated in the UC Washington Center program and worked on the historic special election of Rep. Lois Capps (D-Santa Barbara).
John lives in Marin County, California with his wife, Nicole, a Community College Counselor. He currently serves as a Planning Commissioner for the Town of Tiburon.
